New Orleans isn’t just the place to go for a wild night out. There are plenty of romantic things to do in New Orleans! You’ve got everything from classic date nights to sight seeing, to eating your weight in oysters for a good time in the Crescent City. Any couple is sure to find something that calls to them from these 12 romantic date ideas in New Orleans.

1. Fine dining date

New Orleans is chock full of great restaurants so you’ve got plenty to choose from for a romantic date. If it’s low lights, candles flickering, and soft jazz in the background you want, head to Commanders Palace or La Petit Grocery.

2. Cooking class

Or maybe you’d rather make your own meal? Learning to cook New Orleans classic dishes is fun at the New Orleans School of Cooking.

3. Relax at a spa

New Orleans is all about taking it slow and relaxing, where better to do it than at a spa? Get a massage at The Windsor Court spa, you won’t regret it!

4. Go dancing

You can find a great spot for dancing just about any night in New Orleans. Dancing clubs are a-plenty in the French Quarter and around the city.

5. Take a walking tour

Do you and your love enjoy a good walk on the beach? Traipse up and down the Mississippi instead or take one of the walking tours around the French Quarter.

6. Have a picnic

In New Orleans, drinking alcohol outdoors is allowed almost everywhere. Find a nice park (Audubon and City Park are the largest but there are many small parks dotted throughout the city) pack a bottle of wine and get a cheese board to go.

7. Classic movie date

If you’re a couple of film buffs, you can’t go to New Orleans without visiting The Prytania Theater, one of the oldest running single screen movie theaters.

8. Tour art galleries

New Orleans has a greatly overlooked but beautiful art scene. Grab your beau and tour through the many art galleries on Magazine Street and in the French Quarter.

9. Slurp oysters

Although not the sexiest food to eat, oysters are often said to be an aphrodisiac. You can find oysters in just about every restaurant in New Orleans. Not into eating them raw? Try chargrilled oysters with a glass of pink wine instead — trust us.

10. Relax at a long brunch

Brunching is an art in New Orleans. After a late night out (or a quite night in!) a lingering brunch is a must. Stop by Meauxbar for unlimited mimosas.

11. Paddle down the Bayou

See a quiet part of the city by renting paddle boats on Bayou St. John.

12. Attend a Yoga and Beer Session

The Tchoup Yard and several other places in the city offer regular free yoga classes. Stop by, get your yoga flow on, then have a beer or two.
