3 Health Benefits of Cinco de Mayo

Written by emilyc

Believe it or not, Cinco de Mayo does have some health benefits. I’m talking about salsa, limes, and guacamole. Margaritas and tequila on the other hand? Yeah, you’re on your own with those.

mexican foods

1. Salsa – Cancel out the fact that you’re eating fried tortilla chips, and rest in the knowledge that salsa is providing you with lycopene (think cancer prevention), vitamins A, B6, and C, blood pressure-regulating potassium, as well as anti-inflammatory properties

2. Limes – Don’t have a Corona without ’em. They aid in weight loss, skin care, good digestion, eye care, respiratory disorders, gout, gums issues, and urinary disorders.

Speaking of Corona, check out our article on the health benefits of beer.

3. Guacamole –  it’s the most delicious way ever to get a good dose of healthy fats, plus, avocados are excellent for your skin, help with nutrient absorption, lower cholesterol, and help prevent heart disease and certain cancers.
