3 Perfectly Good Reasons To Jump Out Of A Plane In Your Lingerie

Written by Elizabeth Mitchell

Face your fears, be bold and take the leap!

A couple weeks ago I got the chance to do something literally life changing. Yep, you guessed it: I went skydiving in my lingerie with the amazing ladies of Esme & Eve Los Angeles, boudoir photographers Jennifer Hoffman and Marisa Gallegos, along with four other brave women. Okay, technically it wasn’t my lingerie since Naked Princess hooked us up hard, but you get the point. Anyway, before you start thinking we’re a bunch of crazies desperately seeking attention or whatever, let me explain the entire point of this dive. It’s to empower women, to teach girls to face their fears head on, to be confident and to love their bodies and to know that the only thing we all have standing in the way of reaching our dreams is ourselves.

So how did I get involved with this whole “Be Bold, Take The Leap” initiative (because yes, it does have a name!)? Thanks to a call to action contest held by Esme & Eve for bloggers, I submitted my story about having eating issues in college — you know, skipping meals, working out excessively, obsessing hard over the number on that scale and the like — and was ultimately chosen.

For me though, the hardest part of this entire skydive wasn’t the actual jumping out of the plane part, it was coming clean about my own personal struggles with my weight and realizing that my body and past issues with food were nothing to be ashamed of and something that a ton of women go through. So on that note, I leave you with 5 reasons to gather up your gal pals and go out and take a leap of faith.

1. Because skydiving rocks (lingerie or not)!

Trust me, the rush you get from jumping out of that plane is unlike any other. So spread your wings, let go of those fears and fly baby!

2. To overcome your own fears.

Afraid of heights? Petrified of letting anyone, even your boyfriend, see you in lingerie? Then it’s about time you get out of that comfort zone and try something new. It’s amazing the things you can achieve when you just push yourself to new limits.

3. To help spread the word.

We’ve all been through struggles both big and small in our lives, so help spread the word of the “Be Bold, Take The Leap” initiative by inviting your friends to join in, face their fears and skydive in your lingerie together. It’s a bonding experience that will last a lifetime.

A big thanks to all of our other sponsors: Y-R-U, SportieLA, Shwings, Lather, Sheila Kelly S Factor’s “Redefining Sexy,” and Cause Fitness.
