There are a great many places that I want to visit in my life, but the Maldives is absolutely 100% at the top of my list. It is my dream honeymoon, my fantasy getaway, and the place I want to retire when my skin becomes old and saggy and I have to kiss my dreams of being a CoverGirl model goodbye. To honor this commitment I have made to the Maldives, I have compiled five things that you should know about this not-so-secret paradise. I will race you there!
The Maldives is an island nation just south of India, located in the Indian Ocean. It makes perfect sense if you think about it.
None of the islands of the Maldives rise more than 6 feet above sea level. They should probably take a note from New Orleans and build some levies immediately.
The islands of the Maldives are made of coral, and out of 1,200 only 200 are inhabited. I think I just figured out where I am finally going to purchase real estate.
The Islands are technically in South Asia, but share none of the stringent cultural policies concerning women. Basically all I am trying to say is: girl power.
Tourism is the main industry of the Maldives. This means they actually want us to visit. I don’t know about you but I am going to stop tipping strippers until I have enough cash to buy a one way ticket.
