Travel Spotting: The Luminaire De Cagna in Belgium

Written by Gary

When you think of cutting edge art exhibits and beautiful landmarks, Belgium doesn’t normally come to mind. In fact, if I am being completely honest I don’t rightly know the difference between Belgium, Belgian, Berlin, or Germany. Call me provincial if you will.

The Luminarie De Cagna in Ghent, Belgium is a great reason for me to go sort it all out. The cathedral-like structure is composed of over 55,000 LED lights and was recently show on display in the 2012 Light Festival.

Luminaire De Cagna is actually the name of an Italian family business that creates large, imposing, and spectacular LED light structures. Think of it as Las Vegas’ classy older sister that married into a European family and now smokes black cigarettes and speaks with an accent.
