Beauty Spotting: Hot Weather Beauty

Written by emilyc

Every time I walk outside, I want to cry. Actually, I want to cry every time I walk into my pre-war apartment, as well. New York City’s heat wave has made me look like Christina Aguilera circa that time when it looked like she hadn’t showered in years.

One thing that doesn’t have to suffer during these months of oppressive heat is your skin. Here are a few solutions to cool you down while keeping your skin healthy and beautiful.

Drink an iced green tea. This cold beverage is packed with antioxidants, which protect your skin from free radicals to help you look younger. It’s also known to hydrate better than water – a win win for both your dehydrated summer self and your skin!

Fill a spray bottle with water and chill it. Spritzing a little cool mist on your face after a sweltering walk outside allows the water to evaporate quickly, which not only refreshes your skin, but the simple application of water to the face is a simple and effective way to hydrate skin.

Shower with some frozen shower jelly, such as Sweetie Pie from Lush. If you’re like me and still want to take a hot shower even when it’s 17,000 degrees outside because cold showers are just too much too handle, shower jelly is our solution. It’s just enough invigorating coldness to help you recover from your borderline heat stroke without turning you into a shaking icicle. Lush’s Sweetie Pie also smells like a glittering fruit popsicle, which ups the refreshing factor.
