“New York’s best staycation”

Written by Alaine

Work has gotten you down?
You haven’t been able to get out of the city all summer.
Just when you think that you are stuck in the city. I offer you some ideas. A New York Lower East Side Staycation!

Accomodation:
Hotel on Rivington – book a room with a Japanese Soaking Tub. The only hotel in NYC that has one. Fill that tub with HOT water and soak in there for a couple hours. The last time I soaked in a Japanese tub was actually at a mineral hot springs in Hakone, Japan (right outside Tokyo) a year ago.

Food:
DBGB Kitchen & Bar – This new eatery is becoming super popular among the downtown crowd. Burgers, Hot dogs, Rare brews on tap, Celebrity chef & clientele. Whats not too love? I hear that brunch is awesome here.

Prosperity Dumpling– After you’ve blown some money for your hotel room and dining at DBGB go to Prosperity Dumpling. How could you go wrong with 5 for $1 dumplings? In fact, get a few orders and bring everything back to the hotel room and pig out in front of the plasma tv with your best friends. This unassuming hole-in-the-wall is worth the trek.

Things to see & do:
The New Museum – Unlike the museums uptown, this museum is geared towards a young, hip crowd.

New York Fringe Festival – a multi arts festival. All the performances are no longer than an hour so you have time to see two shows a night. If you are on a staycation, then you can also catch the daytime shows which means that you can get your first pickings for the best seat in the house.

Unwind:

Its not a staycation without a visit to the spa for some pampering. A visit to Amore Pacific for a facial, body treatments, mani-pedi, and massage. Just say ohmmmmmmm…..
