Since you’re inevitably going to see someone for the holidays, you’ll need a few trinkets to bring along as a hearty “thanks for having me because I’m too lazy to cook and host you at my own house” type of thank you. Here are a few of my faves that everyone seems to love:
1. For your parents’ friends who invited you to their house for dinner. Nothing says “I sort of know you and appreciate you but I don’t want to dish out all my savings” like a fabulous handsoap. Try bringing this affordable USDA-certified organic soap by Nourish in fig scent. Yum!
2. For the friend who basically rocks your world. She’s seen you through good times and bad, and this time she’s seeing you through a turkey dinner with a side of mashed potatoes as your man lazily sleeps in her den. This obviously deserves a gift upgrade, and you can’t go wrong with a Tocca candle. I’m partial to this green tea-infused number called “Bianca.”
3. For your neighbor who invited you to stop by for tea and cookies. You’re not really going for a long time, but you still have to bring a little something. Thank baby Jesus for The Body Shop and their cheap-but-awesome collection of nearly edible goodies. I’m totally loving this mango body scrub, and I’m betting your crusty (I mean that in the old way) neighbor will, too.
4. For your boyfriend of 3 years’ parents. You’ve been dating for 3 years. You have yet to get a ring because his family hasn’t given you the official seal of approval. Now is the time to pull out all the stops and bring a cozy 60″ x 60″ Navajo-inspired throw by Stacia. In the scheme of life, $200 is a small price to pay to seal the deal with the love of your life, or find out once and for all that he’s wasting your most fertile years.
