Winter is extra mean to skin. I feel the need to apply face moisturizer with each meal. My hands have a greyish tinge to them, and I can’t text or talk without the skin on my hands or lips cracking a little. It’s ok, though, because there are simple ways around this to get looking summer-ish and glowing in January.

1. Use a gentler cleanser. Just like fashion, cleansers have seasons, too, and harsh ones are so last season. Give your super-strength cleanser a rest in favor of one made for sensitive skin. One of my faves for cold weather is Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Gentle Skin Cleanser. Not once did I feel as though my skin was going to tear in half after using it.

2. Start to love turmeric. At least until March. The Indian spice turmeric contains antioxidants that act as an anti-inflammatory and help heal skin. What does this mean for you? Added defense against those wintry elements!

3. Add a hydrating mask to your daily routine. This is the next best thing to an IV of vitamins. Plus, they increase skin’s moisture and leave it glowing as if it were sunny and warm outside. Elizabeth Grant Collagen Face Pads are a mess-free option for getting smooth, rejuvenated skin without the grossness that sometimes goes on with the usual face mask.
