I don’t have kids, but I have been around them enough times to know that packing travel treats for them can be exhausting, confusing, and space-consuming. For your next trip, consider creating treat boxes for each of your kids. Yes, treat boxes sound like something you would make for your dog, but you will thank me when you aren’t fishing around in your bowling bag purse for a 6-month-old packet of moldy goldfish crackers.
All you have to do is buy some inexpensive tackle boxes, either online (if you live in New York)or from your local Wal-Mart (if you live in the real world). Decorate the covers to your liking using puff paint or stickers and decals to make your kids excited about the treats, and ignorant about the fact that they are eating out of something that normally holds live worms.
Use the compartments inside to ration the treats for the trip, separating the food by type. Now whenever your kids are hungry all you have to do is pull out the travel treat box, and voile, no more hungry, screaming bastard children.
