‘It will feel like soft warm rain falling on your face’ is probably the best description a cosmetician can give you when introducing the laser genesis, especially because it’s true.
When my girlfriend first told me about Laser Cosmetica, I looked it up and immediately thought it was hair removal, which scares the hell out of me since I had a bad experience with it at around 18. It turns out there are tons of different things you can do to your skin with lasers. Acne therapy, skin tightening and cellulite reduction (!) – I decided to check it out.
I’m 26, I’ve never taken too much sun (or too many drugs), I have a healthy diet and I’ve been using premium skincare forever (must be the French roots). Overall, I am just super lucky to have good skin. My issues are mostly redness, difficult scarring and flushing. And since I am a perfectionist New Yorker, I tend to obsess about those as well as each and every smallest imperfection on my body. On a sunny Wednesday afternoon, I get to the NYC flagship location of Laser Cosmetica on W 23rd St.
First thing I notice, their slogan: ‘We obsess so you won’t have to.’ Like.
The place is clean, bright and the staff is pretty! I enter a treatment room and lie down on the bed. At this point, I’m still scared to death. The laser genesis it the clinic’s solution too skin imperfections like Rosacea, redness and blotchiness. I put on the mask, hold my breath and close my eyes real tight, but as soon as the laser hits my face, I start breathing again. It’s a gentle, warm feeling, kind of like tanning, actually. The treatment lasts for 20 minutes and ends with a generous application of the Co Q-10 hydration cream [pictured below].
Upon my release, I rush to the restroom to look at my face in the mirror, I look the same. No bruising. It really just looks like I went for a run and got a healthy glow. The results are meant to appear a few days later anyway. Today’s exactly a week in and I don’t know if it’s this or my upgraded skin care regimen, but I’m looking fab.
