I’m not really a vintage person. I own one vintage piece, it’s a green varsity jacket and it’s the most obnoxious thing in the world. Don’t get me wrong, I think you can find some really amazing vintage pieces but I don’t like to dig. It’s the same reason that I don’t shop at Zara or H&M, I don’t like to dig through clothes or through tourists. Sometimes though, something really special changes your mind. In this case, that special something is the Vintage Vanguard from Moda Operandi.
(L-R: Jeremy Scott, Tory Burch, Rag & Bone)
Moda Operandi, the website that brings you some of the best fashions before they hit shelves, has teamed up with amazing designers like Marc Jacobs, Suno, Zac Posen, Jason Wu and more for a special project. The designers raided the closets of Karen Elson and Liz Goldwyn (two vintage hoarders) and each picked out a stunning piece.
What happened next? The designers re-worked the garments into beautiful, unique creations. I really love fashion for its ability to re-use and create stunning pieces from things that people throw out. These veteran designers really went above and beyond. That Jeremy Scott shorts and crop-top number is divine. Can we talk about how ethereal this Rag & Bone dress is? Or maybe this super-flirty Tory Burch number? Either way, there’s a one-of-a-kind piece in this collection for everyone.
The collection will hit Moda Operandi on January 6th. Proceeds from the pieces will go towards Dress For Success, a non-profit that prepares underprivileged woman for job interviews.
