I’ve had plenty of Bloody Mary adventures in my day, but this is Garden Mary is by far the tastiest and best Bloody Mary recipe I’ve tried yet.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Bloody Mary, so obviously I scoured the planet for the best Bloody Mary recipe ever, and came up with this one submitted to Absolut’s national contest — The Garden Bloody Mary.
It features the slightly spicy and tingly Absolut Peppar (a peppery vodka that is quickly becoming my favorite cocktail addition), and can easily be made vegetarian. I don’t do shrimp or bacon so I edited those out of the recipe, added some extra picked veggies and a garlic clove, and was still left with just about the tastiest Bloody Mary I’ve ever had in the history of ever.
The original best Bloody Mary recipe ever is posted below, though– have at it!
Ingredients:
3/4 shot Absolut Peppar
1/2 shot Absolut Cilantro
4 parts Sacramento tomato juice
1 part puree of crushed tomatoes
1 part puree of house made bread and butter pickles in brine
1/2 part prepared horseradish
5 dashes lemon juice
5 dashes Worcestershire sauce (if you’re vegetarian like me, you can sub a little soy sauce– worked marvelously)
4 dashes A-1 Steak sauce (or another variety of steak sauce is fine, too)
3 dashes Tabasco sauce
3 pinches celery seed
2 pinches sea salt
2 pinches black pepper
1 pinch ground mustard
1 pinch adobo spice
1 pinch garlic powder
1 pinch lemon pepper
1 pinch cayenne pepper
1 pinch jalapeño pepper powder
Directions:
1. Rimmer (for 16oz pint glass): Mixture of Creole seasoning and kosher salt
2. Garnish options:
Celery stalk with leaves
Jumbo stuffed olive with pimento
Lemon wedge
Lime wedge
Shrimp Lejon (shrimp stuffed with horseradish, wrapped with bacon)… I switched these out for some pickled veggies from my local market.
I love a classic Bloody Mary with extra horseradish. Keep it old school!
Wow this looks amazing! A Bloody Mary is my favorite cocktail and the best one I ever had was at a Sandals in Jamaica. They put steak sauce in it (like this one!) and it was divine. Going to have to get fancy and try this!
My husband would go crazy – he loves Bloody Mary’s!
