Aside from the inappropriate title, this topic is near and dear to my heart. Ashley and I just spent the last 5 days out in Utah at the Sundance Film Festival where it has been dry and frigid. We’ve gone through a LOT of hand creams out here and consider ourselves to be the official authorities on the subject now.
So what makes a great hand cream? Well, it really depends on what you’re looking for, but the key factor for any hand cream’s excellence is a fast absorption rate…. who wants their hands to be a sticky, greasy mess? No one. So here are our top 5 hand creams you need to know about- in no particular order.
1. Ellen Sirot’s Hand Perfection. This little cream might seem pricey, but if you’re the type of gal that will stop at nothing for velvety hands, this is the cream for you. All you need is a pearl-sized dollop of this cream, and your skin will be left hydrated, smooth, and not at all greasy for several hours. I loved it for the easy travel size. It fits in your coat pocket, purse, or any carry-on.
2. Nivea’s Little Tin. Nivea has been known for ages as a skin softening powerhouse at an affordable price, and I think their little tin of buttery, rich cream is the perfect solution to extremely dry winter skin. It’s virtually scentless, so it won’t offend your boyfriend either. You’ll probably even want to buy him a tin to keep in his pocket, or gym locker. It’s just a few bucks and available at just about every drug store.
3. Renee Rouleau Therapeutic Hand Cream, SPF 25. This cream is a little heftier at just over 2 ounces, and it’s ability to protect your delicate skin from the sun will help keep the signs of aging at bay. It also has botanical lighteners to help fade any existing age spots. I say that’s a pretty good deal for $17.50!
4. L’OCCITANE Lavender Hand Cream. This cute tube boasts 5.2 ounces of dense cream is shea butter-based hand cream is the perfect night solution for dry, cracked hands. The shea butter formula is thick and intense, which pairs perfectly with a nighttime glove treatment. Just apply this cream, put cotton gloves on, and let the lavender scent lull you to sleep.
5. Vaseline Hand & Nail Cream. This 3.1 ounce tube retails for about $4, and it’s the easy-peasy way to . The scent is mild, the cream goes on smoothly, and the cream really works. It’s a no-frills, simple solution to dry hands and cuticles.

I love the entire line of Hand Perfection, I have been using for about 4 months now and just replenished my supply since they were offering a 25% web discount (code NEWYEAR25). The hand cream is amazing so it the moisturizing cleanser it is like washing your hands with velvet. They may be pricey but no question worth every cent!

I always have that Vaseline hand cream in my desk drawer… and one in my bag! And once they’re empty, I love to use them for traveling- you can put your other body lotions right in the bottle. ugh- perfection.
Love the L’Occitane lavendar hand cream. I have it in all sizes, micro-tiny, purse-friendly, and regular size. All my bath and body products seem to contain soothing scents b/c I love to slather everything on at night.
I have not tried these 5 products yet, but I have to say that my personal favorite is a NEW 100% Natural, high-performance luxury lotion that just came out about a year ago.
