The Olsen twins’ perfume du jour is a vanilla bourbon scented nugget of joy aptly called Nirvana.
Hyper-fans and beauty world experts alike are getting in on the Olsen love, and for good reason.
“In college, I wore my hair like theirs’ on their ABC Family show, which, if you recall, was a sort of crimpy wave with straight ends,” explained beauty expert and Rouge18 editor, Amber Katz. “Chic. I kept the signed note from them that came with the latest Nirvana perfumes. I saw New York Minute in the theater on opening day and own it on DVD. One of the best days of my life is when I saw Ashley (my favorite Olsen) in my friend Andrea Lavinthal’s elevator. She was MICROSCOPIC! It was amazing. I was tempted to speak to her in my voice I reserve for pets. I, unironically, love the vanilla bourbon Nirvana scent and have been sporting it all week. I enjoy bourbon, but I actually love the scent!”
This is promising news, because every time Elizabeth and James releases anything from a plain white tee to a bottle of cocktail-memory-evoking fragrance, the world seems to go nuts in all the best possible ways. What does that mean, exactly, in terms of the Olsen twins perfume lines? It means these waify little twins are being responsible celebrities by releasing stuff that’s actually decent. I mean, how many times have we seen a rockstar or former MTV veejay release a bottle of something that smells like air freshener or a pair of corduroy overalls? All too many, and the world doesn’t seem to give credit where it’s due when it comes to lifelong celebs, like the Olsens, using their fashion power for good instead of evil. All the blessings, good karma, and actual spiritual nirvana on them for that.

“Ashley and I believe everyone’s nirvana is different, so we created Nirvana Rose and Nirvana Bourbon to explore amore sensual and also playful side of Nirvana,” stated Mary-Kate Olsen about her own line.
“These two new fragrances are an evolution of Nirvana – bringing light and color into the collection and giving our customer more ways to find their nirvana,” said Ashley Olsen.
Created by Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen in partnership with Firmenich, the newest Olsen twins perfumes include:
Elizabeth and James Nirvana Rose – an alluring floral scent embodying the heart of a dark rose with notes of geranium, rose de mai and vetiver.
Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon – an oriental scent blending notes of vanilla bourbon with oakwood and hints of tuberose.

The Elizabeth and James Nirvana Rose and Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon Eau de Parfum fragrances will initially be available in three different sizes – 30 ml ($65 USD), 50 ml ($85 USD) and a rollerball ($25 USD). The fragrances will launch exclusively at all North America SEPHORA stores and Sephora.com August 2016 and roll out to additional retailers in Spring 2017.
