the bad girls want to get clean, while all the good girls just want to get dirty

Dirty vs. Clean?

There’s a certain appeal to both… clean being the more obvious. However, there is something sexy and raw about being able to pull off that mussed up, dirty girl look. No, I certainly don’t encourge you to go back to Christina Aguileria, circa 2002, Dirrty – however, being able to pull off that bad girl, raised eyebrow, smudged eye cool might be a weekend break after a 5 days of pencil skirts, pumps, and headbands for an office girl like me.

On the other hand, if you need a quick fix to clean up after your wild and dirty night out – say for Sunday brunch (Mother’s Day, anyone?) – my beauty favorites also offer solutions that will set you back to prim and proper even before the first bellini is served.

1. Bad girl hair begins with John Masters Organics Sea Mist ($16.50) – a texturizing and volumizing sea salt and lavender spray. Spritz your roots after towel drying, before blow drying, finger comb and cool dry your hair. When nearly dry, spritz the rest of your hair, scrunch, shake, diffuse dry, scrunch once more, and you’ll be channeling Brigitte Bardot with bed head chic. 2. Smoldering eye is synonymous with the bad girl look, however, not always easy for the untrained to pull off. My favorite evening eye palletes are Bare Escentuals Retro Eye Kit ($24) and GloMinerals’ GloSmoky Eye Kit – the first giving a retro glam winged eye effect, with the blendability of a loose liner to allow for a forgiving and carefree smoke. While the second, is not only a handy compact you can stash in your purse for the night, it also provides step by step instructions and classic colors that flatter every skin tone. 3. Kaponga‘s Nuts Creme Perfumes are 100% organic, with sweet almond oil and beeswax that will mix with your natural body chemistry as your inner bad girl sweats it out. I love Ylang Ylang d’Amour ($20), an apricot-patchouli-musk mix that only gets better as the night goes on. 4. Purple Lab, created by the ever fabulous and brilliant, Karen Robinovitz, has the most perfect just-kissed (for hours) plumping gloss called Huge Lips, Skinny Hips in my favorite shade, Red Sole, named after Louboutin – the bad girl’s choice of pumps suitable for all activities. Vitamin B3 naturally inflates your pout, while the extra perk of Hoodia, will keep your digest at bay as long as you keep licking your lips – or let others do it for you. 5. Finally, the Balmain jeans that are on everyone’s mind and wishlist will not only look as bad ass as it gets, they have a price tag ($1,825, yikes!) that is just asking for a punishment.

1. Barielle has your back for a mani in a minute with their 60 Second Mani-Pedi scrub ($25.) Scoop a bit into your palm and rub heavily into your cuticles, nails, and hands, banishing all evidence from the night before. Dead sea salts and essential oils will leave your nails just as smooth and moisturized as your hands. 2. Add a coat of Barielle Sugar Sweet ($8), a sheer peach – which looks just fine with one coat and dries smooth and shiny in a flash – because nothing looks more polished than polished nails. 3. Tarte’s Rest Assured Brightening Wand ($22) can put all other eye brighteners to rest because it includes a frosty pastel pink pencil liner (they say white can be too “harsh” – they’re right.) As well as a light reflecting cream highlighter with a wand applicator on the other end. Line your waterline with the pencil and then dab the hightlighter in the corners of eyes, under the brow, and up the cheek bones; blend with fingers.  4. John Masters Organics is at your service the next morning with Shine On ($30), a quick fix after an even quicker shower. I ended my lifelong love affair with Fekkai’s Glossing Cream after discovering this amazing product – sharing the same texture as partially solidified Jell-O – Shine On is just slathered into the hair before or after blowdrying. The result – either way – is a soft, silky head of hair with an absolutely weightless mirror shine that would even make Charlotte York jealous.
