Dancing Mermaids

Written by Alaine

I was a dancing “mermaid” this past weekend. I performed in a dance show downtown at Dance New Amsterdam in a piece choreographed by the illustrious Stephanie Liapis (former member of Doug Varone & Dancers). The piece was appropriately titled Soak and we were dancing “mermaids” in a lagoon.

Because I’ve been spending so much time indoors rehearsing my skin has been rather pasty and dull lately. My solution was Laura Mercier’s new Body Bronzing make up and Muti’s Body Butter Bar. My skin was moisturized without feeling greasy or slick (highly important when you are doing modern dance partnering or sliding around the floor) with an otherworldly sheen to my skin. Granted I layered these two products to create the right amount of sheen for hot stage lights.
The verdict: The body bronzer made my pasty skin look tan without looking orange (and I can wash it off at night!), I hate self tanners because I haven’t found the right one that doesn’t make me look orange, ashy, or feel greasy all over. The bronzer gave a golden sheen to the skin and did not rub off on my clothes once it was rubbed into the skin. A little goes a long way with the body butter bar. The packaging is super cute and very convenient. Looks like a deodorant but do not mistake it for a deodorant or you will get oily pits! All the ingredients in the body butter are organic and it feels luxurious on the skin. My boyfriend has dry legs and I put some on his dry patches and it helped eased the itching! Thumbs up for Laura Mercier’s body bronzer and Muti’s Body Butter bar.

  • You sold me. I have had too many bad experianece s with self tanners. I had no idea it would take effect so fast. I put it on before bed. I woke up to handsteakes on my chest, dark lines in between fingers and any crease was light and around it was dark. I looked awful for a couple days.
