I take my hair pretty seriously. In fact, I’d go as far as saying that my hair is sort of my signature trait that most people remember about me. I’ve been known to drop some real dough on the best quality shampoos with ingredients sourced from the Himalayas, argan oil produced under strict organic regulation, and deep conditioners made my nuns in villages on the outskirts of major Italian cities. I might even have a problem, who knows, but I’m pretty excited that I found 3 unexpected (and relatively cheap) haircare wins this week.
1. Bosley Volumizing & Thickening Hairspray. When Ashley first pushed the bottle towards me on my desk I started laughing. “Ashley, no, my hair is thick enough…” But, as expected, Ashley kept insisting that I try it so I gave in. As a girl with relatively giant hair to begin with I was impressed that it kept my loose curls sort of bouncy and light throughout the day. For gals with thinner hair, you’ll like that it doesn’t feel to sticky and hairspray-tough.
This one makes me super happy because it’s hard to find a good drugstore shampoo that won’t damage your hair! You’ll be impressed that this formula boasts no sulfates, dyes, or allergens and is only $3.99 a bottle. Sulfate-free shampoos have been all the rage in high-end salons for a couple years now, but they’ve always come with pricetags of at least $15. My hair was smooth, shiny, and clean as a whistle after just one use. I would totally recommend keeping a bottle in your gym bag or in your guest bathroom because it’s a sure win.
Holy moly, this one now resides under my boyfriend’s bathroom cabinet because I can’t tell you how many times I sleep over, sleep in, and then just don’t feel like washing my hair in the morning. I also don’t feel like having that gross limp look either, so I’ve been a big fan of dry shampoos. This is the first one I’ve used (and I’ve used a ton) that actually combed through clean, didn’t leave any powdery build up, and didn’t have an overpowering scent. And it’s cheap!
