10 Unusual Ways to Use Beer

Written by Bryce

Beer is beautiful!

Nothing will get your man more excited than bringing home an extra case of beer, and nothing’ll leave your hair, furniture, and garden quite as spiffy. Check out these inventive ways to use our favorite sudsy treat:

1. Marinate Meat: For Vegetarians works great on Portobello Mushrooms) Beer won’t alter the meat like wine or vinegar based marinades. Poke a few holes in the meat, put it in a Tupperware container (we know you have them) or a large resealable bag and add beer. A good selection for this is an American Pale Ale such as Brooklyn Pale Ale.

2. Polish Pots: Let them soak in the beer for a little while, then wipe off.

3. Kill Slugs: They are the Homer Simpsons of the bug world, they LOVE beer. Just add some to jars, bury in the ground near your garden and wait. The rims of the jars should be level with the ground. (works for catching mice too and no bar stools are needed).

4. Shampoo Enhancer. Simmer some in a pot until it is reduced. Add to your favorite shampoo and voila! You’ll have the shiniest mane in town.

5. Soothe Tired Feet: Pour a couple of cold ones in a bowl and soak those feet. Then sit back and relax with another for yourself. A nice Pilsner will do nice.

6. Make Beer Bread (recipe below)

7. Beer Can Chicken: Place whole chicken (seasoned to your liking) on top of the Beer Can, roast for 1 Hou.

8. Remove Carpet Stains: (color test first) douse stain with beer, blot and repeat.

9. Treat Wood Furniture: Got a few opened, half-empty beers from a party or night out? Well, flat beer makes a great wood reviver. Just dampen a microfiber cloth with the beer, rub gently. It will give a polish and bring back some color.

10. Wash your pillowcases in it: Hops, a natural sleep aid, is the main ingredient in good beer. The aroma of the hops on your pillowcase will give you a nice restful sleep. Try an IPA or a Double IPA.

Now the Beer Bread Recipe:

1/4 cup ground flaxseed
1 tsp each salt, dried basil, dried rosemary, thyme
1/2 cup unsalted sunflower seeds
1 Tbsp cooking oil
12 oz beer, at room temperature

Mix all the dry ingredients. Add oil and beer. Stir until dough is just mixed. Put dough in a greased 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 375 F for 45 minutes or until nicely browned. Remove from oven and let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan to cool some more
