Yum Alert: Baked Donuts

I think it’s safe to say my resolution diet is over. Baked Donuts. Do I need to say more?

Ingredients for donuts

Makes 6 donuts

2 cups flour, sifted

3/4 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3/4 cup buttermilk

2 eggs, beaten

2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.  Spray donut pan with nonstick cooking spray. In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. Add buttermilk, eggs and butter. Beat or whisk until combined. Fill each donut 2/3 full. Bake 7-9 minutes and let cool in pan for 4-5 minutes.

Ingredients for maple glaze

1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon maple syrup

2 tablespoons milk or water

Directions

Whisk together ingredients and pour over donuts.
