Accessory Spotting: Blazers for the Individual

MADISON MAXEY, A BRAND BUILT BY AN INSPIRING YOUNG DESIGNER.

Madison Maxey is an eighteen year old California-native who moved to the big city to study fashion at Parsons the New School for Design. The brand was started after she felt that her college money could be better spent by starting a company and learning through experience. Her company is organized around one concept, “Blazers for the Individual” and all of her designs reflect the idea that this one garment can be made in a much more creative way than what most stores carry.

After seeing how different brands dominated parts of the industry, (eg Lucky with jeans or Juicy with sweat suits) but no one has yet claimed women’s blazers, Maddy had found her niche and went to work. However, in order to leave school to start the fashion company she’s always dreamed of, her parents required guidelines. Maddy must find success before the year is over or she must return to school and study the subject of her parents choice, making her dreams impossible. Her blazer line, Madison Maxey is just hitting the ground running.

Her company believes that, “Fast fashion is nice in a pinch, but we believe that slow fashion is better.” Madison Maxey strives to achieve an old world shopping experience and to make purchasing a Madison Maxey blazer a personal, honest and true exploratory experience that’s about so much more than exchanging cash for goods. They believe that good garments should be passed down from generation to generation, mom to daughter, and they source the best natural fibers in order to achieve garments that will stand up to this test. There’s something timeless about a blazer, and they strive to serve that woman who believes in a classic, but modern chic and gravitates towards quality, yet unique garments.

Based in New York City, Madison Maxey has met with the CFDA, past Yves Saint Laurent designers and contemporary womenswear designers for advice and guidance on her line. With an investor in tow and samples prepared, the company now awaits the “big break” of sorts. Press and buyers are needed to propel success and to get this first collection into the public eye.
