Adios, Mosquitos!

Written by Bryce

Bryce swears by this stuff for a bug-free existence.

I spent some time looking around the internet tonight to see if there was any validity to the whole “sweet blood” concept that’s always talked about during the hot summer months when we all seem to be covered in those gross itchy bites that basically ruin our generally cute outfits and all the effort we put into toned, smooth legs.  WTF, mosquitos? As it turns out, yes, there’s some truth to the whole sweet blood thing… and I’ll be the first to admit that my blood seems mega-attractive to little buggy beasts that all but ruin summer.  The only problem is that traditional bug repellents that you find at a local drugstore are typically loaded up with all sorts of chemicals that make you wonder why you even bother eating organic foods and using paraben-free shampoo.

Chemical junk isn’t my style, which is why I’m pretty excited that I got to try Brittanie’s Thyme Organic Insect Repellent.  It’s under $10, available at Whole Foods, and made with ingredients like organic witch hazel, organic geranium and peppermint oils.  This stuff is the real deal.

It needs to be reapplied a little more often than the chemical stuff, but it smells fresh and delish, won’t stain clothing, and is safe enough to use on little ones (whew!).  Reapplying this wonder mist every 2-3 hours will be a welcome treat, since it’ll freshen up your oh-so-sweaty stench anyway.
