It’s no secret that the United States is ridiculously huge, so it shouldn’t be surprising that in different parts of the country we speak different regional dialects.
The rest of the world makes fun of the way we speak- in fact we make fun of ourselves. If you throw the entirety of North America into the mix, we are actually more discriminatory than the rest of the world (Raise your hand if you have never made fun of the way a Canadian says the word “eh,” or the way a South American says anything involving the letter H). I am from the South, so even though I live in New York, I y’all it up all day and all night, and it infuriates me when people pronounce vase as voss. Do any of y’all have the same issues with dialect?
