Art Spotting: Rene Ricard

Written by Casey

Rene Ricard is an extremely talented American artist and cultureist. His art work exudes a quality that is very, (and I am not sure if this even a word but) New York-ish theme. Providing artists with more than just a pretty painting, it is his whimsical lyrics he overlaps with the backgrounds that makes his painting so unique.

Living in the right place at the right time, he was in NYC  during Andy Warhol’s Factory from the first days. Some people say that he basically made Julian Schnabel happen. Rene is primarily known for his poetry and his art writing, which is great, sure, but he also makes art. In fact, he has a show of new stuff opening up at the Half Gallery in Manhattan this summer. We’ll be there along with anybody else with good taste within a 50-mile radius.
