Beauty Craves Du Jour

Written by Bryce

Beauty products are my passion. We know this. Babies, apparently, are also my passion. So for pregnancy number 3 (hooray!) I’m actually in the swing of knowing how to properly pamper myself and pare down to the basics (honestly, who has time to work, be a mom, feed a fetus, AND go wild with hair and makeup?). Here’s what I’ve recently fallen in love with:

1. Good hair, don’t care. If you have good hair, the foundation for a good look and a good week is already set. I mean, who cares about your lack of eyeliner when your locks are flowy and delish? Last week I had the opportunity to try Clear Scalp & Hair’s Damage & Color Repair Deep Nourishing Treatment Mask. Now, normally I’m a take-a-handful-and-let-it-sit kind of conditioner gal. My hair is thick, wavy, and even sometimes curly. But this magical little bottle is more a-dab’ll-do-ya style, because all it took was a nickel sized amount and 3-4 minutes for ridiculously soft and voluminous hair that lasted a full 5 days (in hot weather, I might add). Their formula is more about nourishing the scalp and the root to create a strong, beautiful head of hair than just working with already-crummy ends. Your head (and your wallet) will thank you. By the way, this is really how my hair turned out:

2. Super soft, unstretched skin. OK, OK… unstretched is unlikely, but I don’t believe my growing belly needs to show signs of stretching, especially on a permanent level. I’m opposed to stretch marks like vegans are opposed to cupcakes filled with buttery frosting. I’m loving the non-greasy, easy-to-apply 9 Months line by Mustela (a company I also slather my babies in like all the time). It’s super rich, free of gross chemicals, and safe for breastfeeding too… so I won’t have to switch out my creams for a while!

3. Bright nails. Neons are over on clothes, but they’re so not over on nails for Summer 2013, and frankly, that’s happy news for me. I don’t feel committed to wearing a full face of makeup all the time, but bright and fun nails paired with good hair basically ARE a complete look. China Glaze’s neon collection is cheap, chic, and my new obsession.
