After Steph & I peeped the Hangover II the other night, I found myself a little less infatuated with Bradley Cooper (he’s still on my top 5 list, though. call me.), and totally in love with Jamie Chung! I remember her days on the Real World (this dates me, I know), and I’m equally excited for her big screen success and her spot on beauty & fashion choices on the red carpet as of late. Namely her 40’s Glamour/Pin-Up look at the LA premiere of “Sucker Punch”
Get the Look:
Hair:
ghd‘s glam squad has this look down in 4 easy steps with their Limited Edition Glamour Era collection [$240].
- Select a low side parting using the ghd Tail Comb and take a horizontal section starting at the front of your head.
- Place the ghd Gold Classic styler at the root of the hair. Rotate the styler 180 degrees, elevating upwards to create maximum lift and glide the styler to the ends to create a curl.
- For a stronger, longer lasting curl, roll each section of curled hair back to the roots and secure with a pin. Repeat steps 2 and 3 throughout the entire head of hair.
- Allow the hair to cool for 5-10 minutes to fix the curl. Release the pins allowing the hair to fall naturally and run your fingers through from root to tip. Add hairspray for a secure hold.
Skin:
This look looks best with a clear, bronzed free complexion, sans sunglasses burn lines. Wear philosophy’s miracle worker spf 55 [$55] each day to prevent damage from the summer sun, and get Jamie’s look with Sally Hansen’s truly translucent powder [], inspired by our fav glamour gal Carmindy.
Eyes:
Easy on the eyeshadow, girls. This look is all about long, flirty, defined lashes. Prime peepers with a thick coat of liquid liner, namely our new ‘limitless’ liner by smashbox [$22], and coat lashes with lots, and lots, and lots of mascara. YSL’s everlong in ever black [$30] will stand the test, and will never, ever clump. Finish by filling in brows with shobha’s brow pencil [$16], in a shade lighter than your brows, for beautiful face framing definition.
Lips:
Maybe the most important part of the 40’s pin-up equation, a retro matte red lip needs two things to last. Use a lip stain base, we love smashbox’s Limited Edition lip stain & balm in guava [$23] topped with a wearable true red to give the lips a seriously long lasting kick. I dig cool-toned reds, like L’Oréal Paris Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in Target Red [$8.99 at Target] for my pink-ish Irish-y skintone.
