Vince Camuto & Jessica Simpson Vintage Bloom perfume cologne

I have three wardrobes: my color wardrobe, my black wardrobe, and my perfume wardrobe. You wear clothes to fit your mood, so why not wear scents to fit your mood, too? To me, a good selection of perfume is e-scent-tial. Ugh, pretend I didn’t say that.

Anyways, I have my old standbys, but I try to keep an open mind about all things – even perfume – so when a new one makes its debut, I’m willing to give it a try.  The first one I tried was Vince Camuto’s first eau de parfum for women. At first, I was startled; the bottle was giving me a Juicy Couture vibe, which, as we all know, is never a welcome sight. Well, it may not have been love at first sight, but it truly was love at first smell. It didn’t smell like one of those CVS brand perfumes (or body sprays, rather). Instead, it served me opulent, vanilla-meets-jasmine-meets-leather (in a good way) notes. Love. I would wear this in the evening, although lately I can’t help but wear it all day, everyday. It’s also a cozy enough scent for winter. Welcome to my perfume wardrobe, Vince Camuto.

When it comes to celebrity fragrance launches, I’m always a little skeptical, especially when the celebrity in question is none other than Jessica Simpson. I mean, wasn’t she just pregz for like, two years/a Weight Watchers spokesperson? I’m not sure if those two criteria make me say, “Oooh, I bet she would launch a great fragrance,” but, much to my dismay, I was pleasantly surprised when I tried her Vintage Bloom perfume! It really is the perfect daytime scent. The bottle and packaging is so gorgeous, and the scent itself is very summer meadow-esque with notes of peony, romantic gardens, and a career peak in 2005.

If you’re a man reading this perfume post, chances are you’re either my dad, or you’re gay. Those are my two favorite kinds of men, so I won’t leave you out. Vince Camuto also launched a new men’s eau de toilette, which my extremely picky roommate tried (he’s a distinguished young man with impeccable taste, to give you an idea of what we’re working with). He loved the fragrance, and that’s saying a lot because he would not hesitate to say if he despised it. The notes of citrus, Italian bergamot, black pepper, and precious woods won him over, though, and Vince Camuto successfully converted him from a devout Marc Jacobs wearer to an enlightened Vince Camuto wearer.
