Beauty Spotting: Turn Your Face Into the Perfect Makeup Canvas

Written by emilyc

Your skin enters a very important restorative period while you sleep. Sleep helps your skin appear more youthful and glowing, and without it, puffy eyes and wrinkles can develop. Well great. I happen to live in the city that never sleeps.

One thing I’ve learned from this lovely city is that it truly does not sleep (I have stayed awake for more sunrises in a 6 month span here than I have my entire life), and that maintenance-free skin does not last forever. I used to simply put on my makeup and my skin would be luminous. Now after many nights sans sleep, I need to first prep my skin, and then apply my usual makeup. Here is my prepping regimen:

If it’s a special occasion, I’ll wash my face. Just kidding, I wash my face daily… I follow that with Vapour Organic Beauty’s Stratus Soft Focus Instant Skin Perfector. I love this because it’s all-natural and healthy for your skin. It contains organic oils so not only does it perfect your skin, it also acts as a moisturizer. Side note: it is a luxurious, shimmery gold color when dispensed, but goes on clear when applied. Get it at vapourbeauty.com.

For my eyes, I use Elizabeth Arden Eye Fix Primer. It’s excellent for ensuring that all eye makeup stays in place and doesn’t form those weird, dark creases on the eyelid. Get it at ElizabethArden.com. What goes on under my makeup is now just as important as the makeup itself, and these are two products that will help you feign that beauty rest you did not get.
