Beauty Trends to Try from NYFW

Written by Bryce

Our list of chic beauty trends to try from the SS15 shows at NYFW.

1. Just a hint of lip color. The days of deep, matte color are long gone. The new lip trend is more subtle– just a kiss of color. Many of the makeup artists behind the scenes used complicated layers of products, but honestly, what’s the point when you can nab the same sexy look with one swipe? Try NIVEA Kiss of Care and Color to get the just-a-touch-of-color look in under 5 second. It’s super hydrating, never flakes, and the colors are universally flattering. The  is great for the fall when you’re looking to add a little color without sacrificing soft lips, so you don’t have to worry about flaky lip color. It comes in four different shades, so there’s a color for everyone, but if you’re going for the straight-from-the-runway look, opt for the berry shade. Available here.

2. Headbands and volume. Did you see what happened at the SS 2015 Tracy Reese show? Headbands, that’s what. I can’t get enough of this trend since it’s actually practical, totally affordable, and easy as anything to do. Tracy Reese’s backstage team used Scunci headbands (an old favorite of mine, and I have one on my head now with a sort of poofy ponytail situation). Available here.

Try adding volume with a dry shampoo or good hairspray, and then a gentle backcomb. I’m partial to the Herbal Essences dry shampoo and this Cricket Tools teasing brush.

3. White (with a touch of black) nails. Just about every designer sent their models down the Spring/Summer 2015 runway with some variety of white nails with black detailing. Mimic the look at home with white polish, and a bobby pin dipped in black. Check it out:

4. Metallic temporary tattoos. OK, if you just say that it doesn’t sound nearly as amazing as it looks. But truth be told, these tats become jangle-free bangles, chest decor, and so much more. I’m literally obsessed (anything that’s temporary has my non-committal seal of approval). Tattoo Junkee makes a set with a ton of options and all you need to nab the look, and it’s totally affordable.
