I mean, beat this?  When looking for the ultimate power veggie it’s just hard to beat the beet.  This deep red root is chock full of betacyanin, the red pigment that is absorbed into our blood after eating and helps boost oxygen-carrying ability of our blood by up to 400%.  Not to be shallow, but you know what that means… MUCH better looking skin!  That’s right, eat beets and you’ll be more beautiful.

On top of fighting various cancers and heart disease, this fabulous little root tastes amazing in more than just borscht.  Try beets over salads, hot with melted gorgonzola, thrown into a citrusy smoothie, or just have the juice with your breakfast!  I totally recommend Biotta’s kickass bottled beet juice, because it’s easy, tasty, and relatively low in calories.  Plus, keeping a few bottles chilled in your fridge would be a good idea for company, because it tastes damn good with a litte vodka over ice.
