BEAUTY Cosmetics Skin

Brighter Beauty for Warmer Weather

Written by Bryce

It’s time to put down our vampiest red lipsticks and turn to brighter, glowier skin and calmer makeup. Here are a few of the pre-April beauty musts that I simply can’t put down:

1. If you fancy a luminous, powder finish… Hourglass Cosmetics makes a weightless powder that’s perfect for minimal-coverage kinds of gals. It’s smooth and has light-reflecting particles that magically highlight all your best features whilst playing down all the subtle imperfections we all have. A sweep of this before hitting the gym = almost perfect looking skin without the look of being made up. I’m obsessed with this for the days when I know I need a little something, but simply have no energy for serious makeup.

2. Oh, so you have the energy for makeup? Perfect, because CoverGirl’s Outlast 3-in-1 formula is too legit to quit. It works like a charm for a good 12 hours (they claim 8, but unless you’re in a roller derby it lasts super well for at least 12). It’s got primer built right into the formula, hydrates, and gives a medium-level coverage which is perfect for the gal that wants makeup but detests the “makeup face” look. PSA: if you think makeup face is cute, you need to readjust your thinking. It’s not. Invest the few bucks in this one at the drugstore.

3. Smelling like Spring is oh-s0-chic too, you know. This light, airy scent by Elizabeth Arden features Green Tea and Honeysuckle notes, and layers particularly well with the scent of a freshly-washed mane. Just saying. Also, it’s tres affordable, portable, and leave-it-on-your-deskable.

4. Wash it all away. I, for one, am pretty lazy. The act of exfoliating and hydrating in two distinctly separate actions is often far beyond the realms I’m willing to reach. I love this budget version of the Clarisonic by Dermatouch. In fact, it’s cheap enough to leave one in your medicine cabinet, one at your mom’s, and even one hidden away beneath your boyfriend’s stack of super low quality toilet paper for when you sleep over. Try washing your face with your normal cleanser and then adding a really healthy dose of moisturizer to your face. Scrub on the faster speed to exfoliate away dead skin, and then use your fingers to pat the additional product in. VOILA!
