Bryce Gruber’s Thoughts of the Day (reclaiming youth edition)

Written by Bryce

Today’s thoughts are brought to you by my oh-so-full belly and oh-so-empty house.

1) I Have Every Intention of Getting Silly. It’s not often that Ben stays at his dad’s house for a full weekend (in fact, it’s only happened 1 or 2 times in the past 2 years), so I’ve decided on this occasion to make this an extra silly one. My boyfriend, coincidentally, is also away on business so that leaves me with basically no need to be mature this weekend. By 20 I was in a serious, marriage-like relationship that required endless family dinners and too many calm nights. I plan to make up for a little lost time this weekend by seeing old friends, wild gay party boys, and attending my friend Jeremy’s Warhol-themed birthday party in some obscure Brooklyn location in true hipster form. Am I a hipster? Not a shot in hell- and I’m pretty sure hipsters would be offended that the word “hipster” even rolls off my tongue, but I do dig their energy and I do plan to dance up a storm with them (no matter how smelly they are) through out this entire 48 hour period. I’ll keep you all posted via twitter on how that’s going.

2) On An Anti-Hipster Note… I just saw the new Geox Spring 2011 collection and I’m actually really excited for a shimmery pedicure popping through these bad boys:

There’s something about teal suede that makes me want to have afterwork cocktails somewhere in TriBeCa with a small dog chained to my cafe table as I watch passersby. I don’t have a dog though, so Ashley Brady will have to fill in as the poodle du jour.

3) Who Else Will Superbowlin’ Next Week? I’ll be at superbowl this time next week, and I’m pretty darn excited about it. I’ve got all sortsa wild plans in my head, and most of them revolve around eating meat while hanging with meat heads. Leave a comment on here or tweet at me (@brycegruber) if you plan on being there too!

4) Relationship ADD. Lately I’ve been looking at several of my close friends and wondering if there’s such a thing as relationship ADD. Is there such a thing? Or is it just a big-city lifestyle game that most people seem to play? They’re all rushing around like mad trying to find some hot guy or girl at a party, bar, or on Match.com or something… but when they find a relatively special person they’re somewhat bored by date 4. Or all too often they get into a real, somewhat functional relationship with the gorgeous specimen they found at a mutual friend’s engagement party and then fall out of lust, love, or whatever just a few months in. I’d like to know if there’s a pill for that, because I’d like to give one to each of my friends in their little friendship Valentine’s Day cards this year.
