Looking for some balance? These products are a little bit of Cali, a hint of NYC, and a whole lot of essential for my lifestyle.
For Toting:
The Sonja clutch from Hemptress is by far one of my favorite go-anywhere bags for this season. Lined with recycled plastic bottles, with a hemp trim & gold hardware, their tag line vintage Chanel meets the 21st century meets hemp couldn’t ring more true with this vegan piece.
Hemptress Sonja Clutch: GreenwithGlamour.com $115
For Tunes:
Bumpin’ a playlist of cali-tunes at the park, on the subway, or walking to the coffee shop may not be extreme in any sense of the word, but it for sure requires a rad pair of headphones. These pictured, a collab-o between tech company Philips & ultimate surfer dude lifestyle company O’Neill are just the flexible, flat-folding, boldly colored cali-cool headphone will withstand any decibel level. Comments Nick Andrews of Philips, “Our new Headphones are totally uncompromising in their durability – because they’ve been tested on our test animals: the toughest O’Neill riders, the most uncompromising and daring boarders around.†Yup, totally good enough for the inevitable packed subway smoosh-fest.
Philips | O’Neill Headphones-available in US & Europe retail stores [$40-$99.99]
For Sniffing:
The hustle, bustle & constantly convenient proximity of coffee carts to me in NYC can make a girl go a little kooky. Ga Ga style. I can’t attest to Vanilla scented candles keeping me hunger-free, but the calming, soothing & stress relieving properties while burning on my desk, in my bedroom, or throughout my NYC apartment are enough to keep me addicted. Notes in this retro-designed tin of patchouli & Californian sandalwood don’t hurt, either. The OM factor is ultimate.
Illume Vanilla Suede Retro Tin: IllumeCandles.com [$20]
For Ridin’ Dirty:
The amount of people commuting to work via bicycle in NYC is a welcome & environmentally friendly astonishment. With that said, most of the bikes carrying said commuters are, for lack of a better word, fug-a-licious. I tip my hat to those California hipsters who choose beach cruisers as their mode of transportation to everywhere, there and back again. But for the New Yorker, who wants to get everywhere in a hurry, electric bikes like those from Pedego, can get up to 30 miles on the battery or extended to wherever you’re doing with a little pedal power. Having just licensed for a line of Tommy Bahama inspired bikes, they exceedingly serve your style meets speed needs.
Pedego Electric Bike in Blushing Blue (pictured) $1,695
For Beautifying:
The natural, 100% recyclable, tree-hugger line of One Bath & Body gets down to the job of working to get the job done in moisturizing & keeping the hair & skin in tip-top shape. That’s what the Cali girl, NYC girl, basically every girl wants… no? The girl that jet-sets between meetings in NYC, surfing & Cali, and maintaining a sleek set of strands in between should never leave home without their Natural Solid Hair Boost Conditioner. This leave hair tangle free & soft, donning a scent that brings me back to Pixie stick days. Essential for a spill-proof gymbag in NYC & beach bag for a surf session in Cali.
