Pamela Love’s May wedding to illustrator Matthew Nelson was a collaborative affair; close friends contributed to every detail—from the cake with one vegan tier (for Nelson) to Love’s wildflower head wreath to the hand-constructed tepee where guests gathered to hear guitar after dinner. The venue was at a summer camp in Montauk, Long Island, the couple wed under a birch chuppah covered in traditional Appalachian quilts, a melding of Love’s Jewish and Nelson’s Southern roots. “I wanted the wedding to be about being in a natural, wild environment—which is kind of what love is.”
Love wore an off-white bohemian chiffon dress designed by her friend, the talented. Mara Hoffman. The couple spent the day before the ceremony potting flower arrangements in Mason jars that decorated the tables, with help from Fox Fodder Farm, and Love approached the chuppah to a rendition of Neil Young’s “Heart of Gold.” During the reception, guests played on wooden swings in the trees. “It was perfect, like hippie summer camp,” Love said. “We were having a wedding in the country; I wanted to be able to run around barefoot if I wanted to!” She eventually did kick off her Chloé heels, and she and Nelson were the last to leave.
What do you think? Do you like her Bohemian chic style wedding, or is it too hippy dippy for you?
