I’ve tried to not comment on the Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth engagement because apart of me refused to believe it was actually happening. But apparently it is. Hemsworth, 22, and Cyrus, 19, are in fact engaged and as many couples who get engaged at such a young age, this is going to end really well. I hope my sarcasm is coming off as thick as I’m trying to lay it.
Why on earth anyone would want to get engaged and commit to a life long partnership is beyond me and that goes especially for those who are under 25. I understand that both of the kids involved has to grow up early to survive Hollywood, but marriage? Are you serious? Date. Live together. But don’t get married only to realize you made a huge mistake and divorce a few years later. It makes a mockery of marriage for all of us.
Maybe I’m wrong, maybe these two are soul mates and will live happily ever after forever, but going by marriage statistics, I’m willing to bet this isn’t going to last more than 5 years. If Miley is as big of a gay marriage supporter as she claims to be, maybe she should take marriage a little more seriously.
