I recently saw a quote from Taylor Swift that read, “Unique and different is the next generation of beautiful.” Before I go any further, let me say this: if I ever had to choose between team Taylor and team Kanye, I am team Kanye all the way. Give me “Gold Digger” over “Love Story” any day (I hope that isn’t a metaphor for my life). That being said, I may abhor Taylor’s music and aesthetic, but I am loving this progressive sentiment that she has expressed.
I would expect something like this from the mouths of Lady Gaga or Katy Perry, but not from quite possibly one of the least unique and different singers of today. Thank you though, Taylor. Maybe now it will be more acceptable for me to wear unique costumes and different headpieces on the rare occasion that I hit the town with my non-gays. *Sigh* Just thinking about the outfit possibilities if unique and different is what we’re striving for now is making me contemplate adding “Love Story” to my Gold Digger playlist.
