Drugstore Beauty That Really Works

Written by Bryce

Drugstore beauty that really works, because who doesn’t love that?

Whether you’re a glammed out CHANEL and Guerlain makeup nut or an affordable beauty basics kinda gal, studies show (OK, my own personal experience) that you’ll be shopping for beauty items at a drugstore sometime soon. Here are a few of the top picks from your local aisles:

1. Degree Women Clinical Protection MotionSense Solid. If you’ve traditionally been a fan of solid deodorant sticks but need a little extra oomph to get you through your workouts and long days behind your computer screen, this one is for you. While most sticks only offer 19% of the active ingredient that keeps you dry, Degree Clinical is packed with 19.2%– that extra .2% might not seem like a lot, but when it comes to dryness, you’ll undoubtedly notice it. A slam dunk at $7.99 in drugstores everywhere.

2. Jergens BB Cream, for the BODY! If you’ve been obsessed with the never-ending supply of BB and CC creams hitting the market for the past couple years, join the club. But, if you’re like me, you’ve found yourself spreading them in little dribs and drabs on leg imperfections like bruises and spider veins to keep things looking perfectly smooth– well, relax, Jergens released their own perfectly balanced body BB cream! Mildly cover dings, dents, veins, bruises, and even conceal bumpy stuff with this tube of does-it-all goodness. Available here.

3. Take it all off. These textured facial wipes by PONDS are perfect for the gym bag, on your nightstand for “ugh I forgot to take my makeup off before bed and now I’m too lazy to get up again” moments, or just about any other time of the day. In all honesty, out of like bajillion brands that make facial wipes (cheap or expensive), these are the best. I stockpile them just in case of a zombie apocalypse– they’re more important than canned goods to me. More info here.

4. Hydrate your locks. For the days you can’t be bothered to go for a full blowout, my fave product for hydrated-beachy waves (yes, that’s totally a thing in Winter, too) is the new Suave leave-in pump. It’s got all the Awapuhi goodness you didn’t even know you needed– leaving hair stronger, softer, and easily tousled. Air dry your hair, rub some of this between your palms, work it in, and go. No frizz, just perfect beachy waves without all the sticky mess most other products leave. Did I mention this stuff is super cheap, too? Available at drugstores everywhere.

5. Stretch marks? Psshh. If you’ve ever had a baby, or gained/lost a lot of weight quickly, you’re probably riddled with stretch marks… and while there’s little you can do for the texture, the dark purple color most of us are left with can totally be managed with Mederma Stretch Marks Therapy. I’ve used it myself and have seen deep, dark violet stretch marks on my hips fade to a nearly-white shade. That’s exactly what I need to get back into a two-piece by Summer. Check it out, here.
