Fashion Spotting: Karl Lagerfeld for the Olympics

Written by Casey

If you like Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, London, or The Olympics then you will like this article.

This past Tuesday, Karl Lagerfeld unveiled an Olympics-inspired line as part of his new pop-up store at Selfridges in London. For the launch the Chanel director was joined by a cohort of pretty young things including The Kills’ Alison Mosshart, who DJ’d.

The Olympic collection, ‘Team Karl’, includes gold, silver and bronze collars and gold flecked jackets, adorned with a special ‘Team Karl’ logo — an image of the designer bent over in preparation to throw a discus. In a suit and tie, no less. As reported by NY Mag’s Vulture Karl was in fine form, saying of the collection: “It’s a joke. It’s an inspiration. In a way, it’s me. So I have to be careful not to get too much into it, because I don’t expect everybody to dress like me. That’s why I like this collection with the t-shirt to make a joke out of me, because I think I’m a cartoon.”
