Anyone who has ever been on on Pinterest has seen photos of Casa Batlló, in Barcelona. To refresh your memory, it basically looks like a glitter-covered cracked out cathedral house so gay that even Liberace couldn’t have dreamt it up. Here are some interesting facts about Casa Batllo:

Still, it is a well-known architectural landmark located in the heart of Barcelona, because of the non-traditional architectural elements and outright outlandishness of Antoni Gaudi’s design. Here are several more little-known facts about the building, courtesy of Wikipedia.

The local name for the building is Casa dels ossos, which means house of bones (the sort of street name if you’re searching “facts about casa batllo”). The name comes from the fact that the architecture has a skeletal quality to it. If it was up to me, I would name it Casa De Kate Bosworth. See what I did there?

The style of architecture is only identifiable as Modernism or Art Nouveau. In other words, they don’t know what the hell else to call it.

The design goal was to avoid using any straight lines, and the roof is said to be shaped like the arched back of a dragon.

Casa Batlló was originally bought by the Batlló family because of its location, and they had plans to demolish it and build something less gaudy. Antoni Gaudi convinced them that a simple restoration would do the trick, thank God.

In 1995, the current owners decided to open the doors and rent the place out for various occasions. The rooms are said to be in high demand for super important city events and (I assume) gay weddings.
