Extremely popular in Europe during the sixteenth to eighteenth century, extravagant maze gardens hosted forbidden lovers frolics and secret alliances of the royalty.
Well – looks like summerhouses of sin are trendy again, as Italian publisher Franco Maria Ricci has created a seven hectare labyrinth of bamboo hedges at Fontanellato, near Parma. The garden is reportedly five times larger than the Pineapple Garden Maze on Hawaii, which until now held the Guinness record for largest permanent hedge maze in the world.
The gigantic garden will open to the public in 2012 and Ricci is recommending people to bring their cellphones in case they get lost.
Sounds like a fun *dangerous* honeymoon trip!
