Gnarly City Attraction: The Seattle Gum Wall

Written by Vivianne

Grunge is not dead… It still live as bacteria in Seattle’s most popular oddity.

Grunge is not dead… It still live as bacteria in Seattle’s most popular oddity, a huge bubble gum wall located in Post Alley, under Park Place Market.

The Seattle Gum Wall was started in the early 1990s by rebellious concert goers who had nothing else to do while they were waiting in line.

Throughout the years, people started turning the wall into art, inserting coins and objects or drawing shapes, names and symbols.

According to a ranking published on Trip Advisor, it came in second place, after Ireland’s Blarney Stone, as the germiest tourist destinations on Earth.

Would you dare stick your finger into this?
