How Maura Got Her Groove Back

Written by Maura

Today is a rather dreary day in NYC and as I sat in the office looking out at the muggy, dark sky behind the Brooklyn Bridge, I thought to myself..I need a vacation. I then slipped into a very “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” fantasy, just envisioning myself hopping on that plane to Jamaica, then boarding up in the Strawberry Hill Hotel in Blue Mountains, existing for a week in one of the little cottages that just allow me to melt the stress away.

Then I thought a little harder and realized, oh right..I can’t afford a vacation. With my day dream bubble popped, I walked on over to the kitchen and started to whip up some yummy coffee in our new CafeXpress Dual Pod Brewer, both to warm me up a bit and to give me at least a taste of a vacay. See, this isn’t just any ole cup of Joe, I’m talking Jamaica Me Crazy–a flavor of coffee from world renowned chef Wolfgang Puck’s line of gourmet coffees. With an “Essence of the islands”, this coffee let’s me pretend I’m sitting on the beaches of Jamaica, getting some sun surrounded by palm trees, even when I’m in Manhattan, typing on my lap top surrounded by Ashley, Bryce and Rie (even though they are just as good as palm trees, I swear).  First of all, this whole coffee brewing system is the bomb dig..it uses pods of coffee(they look like circular tea bags) and make single cup servings, BUT you can do two at a time. So let’s say you get all caught up in the spirit of the islands(even if that island happens to be Manhattan) and wake up with a new, ah hum, “roommate”, no worries, you can both have your delicious coffee as the highlight of the ultimate awkward good morning.

  • is that CafeXpress Dual Pod Brewer actually pretty good? I have been searching high and low for a good single serve coffee maker..

  • Yeah, it’s great..we love it! Maybe we just have large coffee cups but one piece of advice–put more water in than suggested to get a totally full cup…other than that I have no complaints.
