Just a Touch of Auburn, Thank You Very Much

Written by Bryce

As the summer progresses along with my pregnancy (sweating as I write this, duh), I’ve been longing for a slight hair color pick me up. I’m not a huge fan of laying out in the sun (mostly because I have no intention of looking like a moldy prune by 35), so natural highlights are basically out of the question for my earthy, medium brown hair. I’ve also heard from my stylist like 8,000,000 times that a deep, subtle auburn would flatter my skintone and olive-colored eyes. But, even though tons of hair colors are deemed “safe for pregnancy” now, they still scare the holy heck out of me and my “better safe than sorry” attitude pointed me in the direction of color-enhancing shampoos and conditioners. I tried a lot. Some left my hair silky smooth or with extra body, but only one set effectively left just a hint of color and didn’t leave me crackly dry. TouchBack Plus was the winner by far, especially since I found the conditioner to actually work on my over-chlorinated summer pool hair (I’ve been swimming almost every day lately). If you’re in a pinch or on a budget, you can probably get by with just the color-rich conditioner, which seems to leave the most pigment… just make sure you use a good, clarifying shampoo first to open the hair shaft and remove gross buildup. I’ve been using the system twice a week and maintaining the gentle tint… #love.
