Man Ray was an American modern painter and photographer who spent most of time in Paris, France. He is most noted as a contributor to the Dada-ist and Surrealist movements of the 20th century.
He was best known in the art world for his avant-garde photography, and he was a renowned fashion and portrait photographer. Ray is also noted for his work with photograms, which he called “rayographs” in reference to himself. If you look through his work, you will see lots of instances of himself being drawn within his paintings of another person or object.
