Not only have I just discovered that night rainbows are called moonbows, but I also know where to find them. May unicorns everywhere rejoice.
Moonbows, also known as “lunar rainbows” or “space rainbows” can only be seen in a few places around the world. They are created when moonlight refracts through moisture in the air, so they only really appear on full moons, near waterfalls. Sounds like the beginning of a fairy tale, right?
Victoria Falls and Yosemite falls are two good places to catch a moonbow, so if I were you, I would get my hiking boots on, grab my taser, and head out to a waterfall on the next full moon. You will either get bitten by a werewolf, or see the gayest night spectacle since Priscilla, Queen of the Desert left Broadway, but either way you will have a great story to tell the kids.
