  • Wow, LI is looking more and more like New Jersey…. And I only went to Jersey once. Never again. Perhaps this is the future of America.

  • Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh New Jersey is nothing like Long Island. Forgive the guidos you’ve seen, we all don’t dress like Seaside Tony.

  • Don’t you think the word slutty is a little cruel?

These women are just a representation and product of the misogynist culture we live all live in. Not, to mention it is culture that expects women to expose themselves for male attention and yes, in the most unnatural ways to be provocative. But, then we are confused….we are supposed to be faithful, virginal mother’s who can’t think for themselves either. The old catch 22…slut or virgin. What will it be?

As women we are all deeply affected by these issues unless we live in a bubble or live like the Unibomber did in a shack in the middle of nowhere.

Media makes the minds of these women. Us women. These photographs are more of a warning sign..

“see this is what happens if you read too much Cosmopolitan or US magazine and try to look like the latest boring glam girl of the moment.”

And yes it’s also about making profits…sales of dreams that if you appear a certain way your dreams might come true…which is that boring bubble we thought was dead several generations ago…you know, the one where, the guy on the white horse picks up the fairest of them all. in some places like Long Island, Lyra rules and so do large implants; in Greenwich, CT its the innocence of baby’s breath wreathed as a crown around the virgin bride’s head (hee, Hee)

Low art/ High art….wouldn’t Duchamp agree after all…it’s all the same whatever you call it.

Maybe the best thing we can ask for is human compassion for ourselves and for these women who obviously need some help putting together a nice bridal outfit.

Sure it’s funny, but in the end. we all fall victim to the almighty fashion industry…

that is if you have to deal with real life issues like getting some food on your plate.

Thanks Miss Bryce for bringing this to my attention. I promise to take the next photos out in Long Island for this segment.

  • Yup, I google my own photo now-and-then to see where it has landed 🙂
I wore this costume for Toronto’s Gay Pride Weekend. The only pregnant I was in that photo was pillow pregnant. The veil was an old Ikea window curtain!
    Costume SUCCESS!
