The most densely populated island in the world is in Colombia.
If you ask anyone what the most populated island on Earth is, most of them (at least the ones that know Manhattan is an island) will say Manhattan. A few more might say New York City, but they would also be ignorant since New York City is technically an archipelago.
The most densely populate island is actually called Santa Cruz del Islote, off the coast of Colombia in the Gulf of Morrosquillo. The island is only 2.4 acres in size, but is home to over 1,200 people, which makes it 4 times as populated as Manhattan. You might think the island is covered in high-rises, but it is actually just a bunch of one-story houses connected by alleyways.

The reason so many people live on Santa Cruz del Islote is because it is one of the only islands in the Carribean without mosquitos. Settlers came 150 years ago, and today their descendants live in a community that consists of 90 houses, two shops, one restaurant, a discoteca, and a school.
Even though they have no doctor, only a few hours of electricity per day, no running water, and no sewer system, the people there describe life as calm and peaceful. I guess that makes sense since everyone knows everyone else, but forgive me if I could never live there.
Running water, sewage, and electricity I could do without, but I needs my Internet. I needs it real bad.
