Nail Crave: Speckled Polish

Written by jessica.tannenbaum

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a complete glitter girl.  I’m one to wear a thick, chunky, glitter polish on every finger and love every sparkly second of it.  I’m also that girl who can get distracted by her own polished fingers when I’m in the middle of something important…  However, what I don’t enjoy about wearing thick glitter is the removal process.  You must wear nail glitter at your own risk; it takes forever to remove and you’re typically left with an empty bottle of nail polish remover.  Recently, I was out and about perusing the nail polish display at Sephora and came across something great. Speckle polish.

I was immediately fascinated by the polishes.  I had heard of them before, and had seen similar items at the drugstore but I had never tried them.  I decided to swatch the blue shade on my thumb and fell in love.  I proudly admit that I ended up buying two shades of the Illamasqua speckle colors.  These polishes bring with them the soft, “Easter Egg” look for spring, instead of the overwhelming effect that pure glitter can sometimes have.

The polish base of a speckled shade is actually a creamy opaque color, like a pink or green and it is infused with large glitter chunks.  When you apply it on your fingers it goes on smooth, and if an ultra-glossy top coat is applied you can’t even feel the glitter.  And the best part?  It’s easy to remove.
