Nicole Kidman’s Hair & Makeup Team Shares How to Get Her Oscars Look

Written by Bryce

Loved Nicole Kidman’s hair and makeup from the 2017 Oscars? Her beauty team dishes on how to nail the look with drugstore products.

Nicole Kidman’s hair and makeup at the 2017 Oscars were on point, thanks largely to her expert stylists, Kylee Heath for hair and Jeanine Lobell for makeup. What most people don’t realize is that the entire look was pulled together using totally affordable drugstore-available products, meaning there’s literally no reason why you can’t easily pull together this red carpet look on your own at home (and that’s even more magical than the glitter of Hollywood, isn’t it?).

“The idea of the look was modern retro using the red lip as the focal point,” shared Jeanine. “The golden Indian vibe of the dress gave a nod to the dolled light dusting of shadow.” Nicole’s Armani dress was the perfect blend of sparkly, sexy tinseltown glam and understated chic thanks to the soft champagne hue. Her hair and makeup looks were created to offer the same display of antiqued glamour.

For Nicole Kidman’s hair:

“I sprayed Dove Absolute Curls Leave-In Detangler throughout her damp hair to add nourishment, then applied a dime-sized amount of Dove Absolute Curls Supreme Crème Serum from mid-length to ends before blowdrying the hair smooth,” explained Kylee Heath.

“After her hair was completely dry, I brushed it back into a low ponytail, leaving the front sections loose. With a 1-inch curling iron, I added a little texture to the front right section and loosely tucked the left side back behind her ear, spraying it in place with Dove Style+Care Flexible Hold Hairspray. Next, I split her ponytail in 2, and tied it into a literal knot, pinning it in place. Then, I lightly teased the ends that were still out, and tucked them into the knot to complete the messy bun. To finish the look, I lightly teased the front waves then lightly sprayed her whole head with Dove Style+Care Extra Hold Hairspray.”

For Nicole Kidman’s makeup:

Skin. “To get Nicole’s looks for the Oscars I started by prepping the skin which is key for maintaining fresh pretty make up for the long stretch of the red carpet, the show itself and the after parties. I used Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Regenerating Cream to help hold the makeup in place and give a plumped boosted hydrated look to her skin, along with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Eye to keep a radiant look around the eyes. Next, I applied Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint in Classic Ivory on her face and neck for lightweight dewy coverage. I applied Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Concealer under the eyes and on the lids to neutralize in place of a shadow primer. I then set the make up with a light dusting of pressed powder.”

Eyes. “I used metallic gold shadow on her lids with a slight russet shade in the crease. To create, use Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow + Built-In Primer in Classic Nude and Mink Brown. I wanted her eyes to just look slightly shimmery and did lots of lashes. I applied a couple individuals to the other corner and added a couple coats of Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara to both the top and bottom lashes. I left her brows natural, brushing them up and setting them lightly with a clear brow gel.”

Cheeks. “I applied rose pink blush with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush in Rosy to the apples of her cheeks to add to the softness to the look.”

Lips. “I finished the look off by prepping the lips with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment and then used a creamy red lipstick (Giorgio Armani #402) with a dab of Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine in Deep Cherry to the bottom lip.”
