Our Fave Juicers for Getting Healthy in a Hurry

Juicing isn’t just a fad… it’s been here since before you and I graced this Earth, and will continue to be a healthy, sweet alternative to junky drinks and sugary snacks. Juices can invigorate, rejuvenate, and cleanse our bodies, so we went out on a limb and tried several of the most popular models on the market. We picked two (of different price points and capacities) as our favorites.

1. Omega Vert VRT 350 Juicer. This is the monster model for you home. It offers power, size, heft, and the feeling of transforming your kitchen into a luxurious-yet-boutiquey California juice stand. We tried all the regular fruits and got great results, but also tried tougher veggies like carrots, celery, and beets to see just how it stood up to fibrous pressure. It handled like a champ, and left us with some of the tastiest apple-carrot-beet-ginger juice we’ve ever had. Best part? When the used carrots came out sort of shredded and mashed on the other side they were perfect for making a carrot raisin salad in a jiffy.

Verdict: totally worth the investment of about $379 if you’re a regular juicer, or considering an at home cleansing system.

2. Healthy Juicer Manual. It’s affordable (just under $50), easy to use, and even easier to travel with (if you’re the type to travel with a juicer). This model requires a little muscle, so you’ll burn off the extra juicing calories, but it’s so simple to use, clean, and enjoy that it ALMOST overshadows the limited fruits and veggies it can process. Because it doesn’t offer a mega motor, you’re confined to the likes of wheatgrass, leafy greans, and softer fruits… which really, isn’t so bad.

Verdict: Good for the occasional juicer, budget-minded, or greens-only addict.

Here’s a recipe for the juice we tried making with the Omega juicer… it’s delish, enjoy!

You’ll need:

  • 2 small raw organic beets or 1 large beet, cut into fourths
  • 5-6 organic carrots
  • 2 small organic apples – I used Fuji, cored and cut to fit down the juicer
  • 1″ piece of fresh ginger
  • Optional – 1/2 lemon
  • A juicer, obviously
